According to the Health Professions Act, 1974, the scope of practice for the clinical psychologist is:
assessing, diagnosing and intervening in clients dealing with life challenges, particularly those with developmental and forms of psychological distress and/or psychopathology,
identifying psychopathology in psychiatric disorders and psychological conditions,
applying evidence-based psychological interventions to people with psychological and psychiatric conditions, and
referring clients to appropriate professionals for further assessment or intervention

The sessions are an hour long. However, sometimes it takes longer if there is a need and the next client/s is not inconvenienced.
I am contracted to almost all medical aids. There are some medical aid options which do not pay for psychologists, therefore, before making an appointment, please confirm with your medical aid if they pay for psychologists' treatment.
